These controls are aimed at evaluating zootechnical, clinical, animal welfare or environmental aspects.
Zootechnical controls: assessment of the productive performance of the animals (average daily weight gain, average daily feed consumption and conversion rate) during the different productive phases evaluated.
Clinical controls: individual evaluation of different clinical signs of animals. Necessary samples are also taken for possible laboratory analysis.
Animal welfare controls: both by observation of animal behavior (aggressions, postures, etc.) and by analysis of different metabolites related to animal well-being (cortisol, acute phase proteins, etc.)
Environmental controls: analysis of different compounds in excreta to know their impact on the environment. In addition, ADA has gas measurement equipment based on photoacoustic spectrophotometry (INNOVA 1314) that allows quantification of polluting emissions into the air of ammonia, methane, nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide.
To carry out the studies we have the close collaboration of the Swine Research Farm (CEP), an experimental farm specially designed for the development of experimental tests under commercial conditions.
The collection of all records is carried out following the codes of good clinical practice. Subsequently, the statistical analysis of the data and the final report of the study are carried out.
