On June 4th, the CaixaForum Zaragoza held the ADA Biosecurity Summit, an exclusive event that brought together experts, companies, institutions, and professionals from the swine and poultry sectors to discuss and advance biosecurity. Organized by Animal Data Analytics (ADA), the meeting exceeded all expectations in terms of participation, technical level, and audience response.
Around 200 people gathered to discuss The current state and future of biosecurity in the pig and poultry sectors, and generate debates and ideas that drive its evolution.
The day began with the official opening by Carlos Piñeiro (ADA), accompanied by Ms. Aitziber Lanza, Director General of Food Quality and Safety of Aragon.
Among the highlights of the morning, key topics such as health threats to the Spanish livestock sector in 2025 were addressed, by Luis Romero (MAPA), and a round table on smart biosecurity and the movement of pathogens between farms was held, within the framework of the Biotegania project, with the participation of Antonio González-Bulnes (CUARTE,SL), Juan Carlos Abad (Spanish Cobb), Sandra Sevilla (CECAV), Gerard Martin (UAB) and Ainhoa Ruano (AZTI). In addition, Carlos Piñeiro officially launched the World Animal Health Biosecurity Association (WABA), reinforcing the international commitment to biosecurity.
The morning session concluded with the presentation of innovative tools such as bio check y Biorisk, essential for biosecurity in the next decade, presented by Noelia Herrera, Óscar Soriano y Gonzalo Abad (ADA), with the support of Laura Batista (Batista & Associates) and the moderation of Javier Lorente (3tres3). The morning session was closed with the intervention of Mr. Valentín Almansa, Director General of Agri-Food Production Health and Animal Welfare of MAPA.

In parallel, the poultry block addressed the current situation of avian flu with the intervention of Irene Iglesias (CSIC), Natalia Majó (IRTA-CReSA) and Ivan Sanz (NIC), with Pablo Catalá (CECAV) as moderator. Finally, Juan Carlos Abad (Cobb Española) spoke about the application of smart biosecurity, with top-level speakers. The closing speaker of the poultry day was Mar Fernandez (ASEPHRU).
